Things to check before leaving for Guam

In order to@best enjoy your stay in Guam, we have made a list of what we think you should know before leaving. Please refer to it for your information.

Golfbags

GolfbagsIt seems that golf clubs are often damaged during transportation in airports (especially long drivers). You are advised to fill up all the space left in your bag and to protect your clubs by wrapping them with towels, for example.

If your golfbag is not for travel use, it is advisable to make sure beforehand that all pocket zippers are fastened since small items may fall out. Furthermore, you should not, under any circumstances, put valuables in these bags.

Measures against ultraviolet rays

Ultraviolet rays in Guam are said to be three times stronger than in Japan. Therefore, don't forget a hat, suntan lotion, and sunglasses when golfing. Of course they are available at any golf course. Since sweating takes away the suntan lotion, please apply it frequently. It is also important to drink liquid like water or juices when playing.

Climate

Located in a region just north of the equator, Guam has a tropical climate which means perpetual summers with high temperatures all the year long.
There is a dry season from October to May, and a rainy season from June to November.
During the dry season, the daytime temperatures average around 30 degrees Celsius, and the humidity level is low. You can therefore enjoy playing golf in a very refreshing environment.

During the coldest months in Japan, from December to March is the best eason to play golf in Guam, and golf courses are very busy.
The temperatures are also around 30 degrees during the rainy season but humidity is high and it feels quite hot. There are also more passing showers, but they do not fall all day.

Tips

In Guam, tips are typically 10%. Since some restaurants include a 10% tip in their checks, it is advisable to ask them if this is the case, when you are about to pay.

Money exchange

You can change yen and dollars in Guam at the airport, hotels, golf courses, or at banks, but since commission fees are much higher than those at banks in Japan, you may want to change your currencies in Japan.

Drinking water

Tap water in Guam is not drinking water. Please buy mineral water to drink.

Traffic

There's no public route bus. It's usual to get on a tour bus or buses operated by Shopping centers or Tour agents. Or you can also take a taxi or use a rental cari. Some buses go round around hotels in Tumon at a regular schedule.

Time Differences

There is a one-hour difference between Guam and Japan. When it's three o'clock in Japan, it's four in Guam.
